Camera Configurations

Versatile has three HDTV camera configurations:
CCU, Fiber Camera Link System, and Wireless.

CCU Configuration

In CCU configuration up to 5 cameras are controlled and powered via Triax or SMPTE Fiber cables connected to Camera Control Units with Remote Control Panels.  Full paint, tally, video return, audio return, intercom, etc. are included.  Recording of the cameras is done through the use of video recording devices in the truck.  Cameras can be fed into a switcher for multi-camera shoots and/or iso recorded.

Fiber Camera Link System configuration

In the Fiber Camera Link System configuration up to 5 CamCorders, such as the Sony HDW-F900R, Sony EX-3, Panasonic HPX-2000,  HDX 3000, HPX-2700, HPX-3700 are controlled and powered using SMPTE Fiber cables.  For most models of cameras, in addition to power there is full paint, tally, video return, audio return, intercom, genlock, timecode, prompter feed, etc.  Recording of the cameras is most commonly done using the CamCorders themselves for their iso feeds and recorders on the truck record a switched feed if the Client orders it.  This allows the cameras to "breakaway" from the multi-camera configuration and shoot independently and then reconnect and go back into multi-camera configuration with minimal effort.

Wireless Configuration

In Wireless configuration up to 5 HDTV cameras are fed via full broadcast quality microwave links to the truck to be switched and/or recorded on board or distribution to other trucks.  The wireless systems allow full control of the camera, tally, embedded audio sent to the truck from the camera, intercom, controlled by broadcast quality microwave Transmission systems.  Recording of the cameras is done through the use of video recording devices in the truck.  Cameras can be fed into a switcher for multi-camera shoots and/or iso recorded.
